[Even past the end of the Dragonsong War, the Warrior of Light still sees a fair number of requests from the areas surrounding Ishgard. Usually, these requests are nothing major, and hardly dangerous, but it’s work that needs done.]
[But when a request comes in from Dravania, Rose is struck with an idea. The Lord Commander had recently talked about wanting to go on an adventure, but not being able to do so. An outing to somewhere like Limsa or Ul’Dah would likely be out of the question, but surely a day trip wouldn’t be a problem?]
[With this in mind, the Warrior of Light enters Ser Aymeric’s office, a smile on her face.]
[ A part of him had foreseen that accepting the additional position as the Lord Speaker would allow Aymeric less and less time out of the city's walls, yet he is ever one to heed the call of duty. Duty itself is not oft as glorious as the end goals may seem, but by the nature of the beast it must be done, sometimes dry missive by dry missive.
That he has found the fortitude to still greet visitors with a smile is a testament to his work ethic more than anyone else.
Yet that practiced, placid smile instantly brightens several degrees into something genuine when he sees who it is that is paying him a visit. ]
Rose!
[ Aymeric immediately sets his quill back into the inkwell. ]
'Tis good to see you, my friend. I--
[ A pause as he glances at the large stack of parchment to his left. ]
--am without pressing obligations. Though you are always welcome, to what do I owe the occasion?
[Rose greets Aymeric with a genuine smile of her own. It was good that he was doing right by Ishgard, but everyone had their limits. Besides, doing nothing but paperwork seemed like it would be terribly dull.]
‘It’s good to see you as well.
[She takes a look at the paperwork. That’s certainly quite a stack. Does it ever go down?]
I’ve been tasked with subduing a group of monsters on the outskirts of Dravania, and was wondering if you’d like to accompany me. As the leader of Ishgard, of course.
[ She would be right about that--dull is really the kindest way to put it. Not that he would say as much to most, as there are many minute details to progress that cannot all be of the same grand fulfillment as the meetings with dragons. But...that did not necessarily make each step exciting.
Aymeric's brows raise at the offer, expression instantly betraying his interest. Truly, he is ever wont for an excuse to not only get out of the office but travel beyond Ishgard's borders, though it seems they are rarely available outside of the preludes of war. ]
To Dravania?
[ The last time he was there was...well, with the intent of meeting with Hraesvelgr. It is amazing how both it felt so long ago and like it was just yesterday at the same time. ]
I--
[ Words rarely fail him but the Rose does have a tendency to wrangle them away from him, albeit unintentionally. He glances towards the "to do" stack with a small amount of guilt, and yet... ]
--...I can hardly turn down an invitation from the Warrior of Light, especially when it comes to the safety of our borders.
[ That is the excuse he will give to the House, at least. Aymeric moves to stand. ]
I imagine this is a matter of great import that, as the Commander of Ishgard's military, must see to personally?
[Is Rose away of the commanding presence that she has? It’s quite possible, and if she is, she’s clearly using it to her advantage here.]
[She crosses her arms and smiles. Aymeric’s devotion to Ishgard is unchanging, which is exactly as why she frames it as she does. That is, something in Ishgard’s best interest.]
Nothing so pressing, but I’m sure that it would do the people well to know their leader is seeing to these matters personally.
[She takes a very deliberate glance at the stack of papers. It’s certainly a lot.]
Paperwork is well and good, but it’s important for people that you also be approachable.
[ Aymeric's eyes follow her gaze, knowing that the stack will only grow in size ere is return. Never ending, really. But her rapport makes him chuckle. ]
Ah, so this is, in part, a lesson in diplomacy for my own good?
[ He places a hand at his help. ]
Very well, I would loathe to fall out of practice. For the betterment of Ishgard, of course.
[ Aymeric makes a sweeping gesture towards the door. ]
Hello! We talked on EMP. Let me know if anything needs changed!
